Deploying an Application

LDO allows users to deploy applications to specific devices or to a group of devices. One or more applications can be deployed to a device or group of devices from this page. 
Alert
Apps can only be deployed when they are in the Clean state. If one or more selected apps are not in the Clean state, the Deploy button is disabled. Select only Clean apps to deploy them to devices or device groups.

Deploying Applications to a Device

  1. Navigate to Application Management > Apps.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the application(s) you want to deploy.
  3. Click Deploy.
  4. Select the Devices tab.
  5. Select the checkbox next to the device(s) where you want to deploy the application. You can use the search box to find devices by name.
    Only devices that are compatible with the selected application(s) are displayed.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Choose one of the following deployment options:
    1. Deploy Now: Starts the deployment immediately. The deployment typically completes within a few minutes.
    2. Schedule Deployment: Specify a future date and time for the deployment.
      1. If a deployment for the same application is already scheduled on the selected device(s), a warning message appears: A schedule to deploy this app to the selected device(s) already exists. Do you want to overwrite that deployment?
      2. Click Proceed to overwrite the previous deployment to replace the existing schedule.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Review the selected applications, deployment schedule, and target devices.
  10. Click Submit to start or schedule the deployment.
Notes
Select the "Schedule deployments of selected apps to other devices" checkbox if you want to deploy the apps on to other devices. Upon clicking Submit, the scheduled deployment will be submitted and you will see the Select Devices screen again to deploy apps to other devices. When the checkbox is unselected, clicking Submit will submit the app for deployment and take the user back to the Apps screen.
If Deploy Now was selected, the deployment process will start immediately after the Submit button is clicked. If Schedule Deployment was selected, the deployment will be queued and will happen on the selected date at the specific time. You can keep track of the deployment status of the app under the Deployments tab in the Apps Info tray. You can also keep track of the deployment status under Device Management > Devices > (select the device) > Apps > Scheduled Deployments page. All scheduled deployments will have the status as Pending.

Deploying Applications to a Device Group

  1. Navigate to Application Management > Apps and select the checkbox next to the app(s) you want to deploy.
  2. Click Deploy at the top of the page.
  3. In the Deploy Apps dialog:
    1. Select Devices
      1. Click the Groups tab.
      2. Select the checkbox next to the device group(s) to which you want to deploy the app.
      3. Optionally, use the search box to find a device group by name.
      4. Click Next.
    2. Schedule Deployment
      1. Configure the deployment schedule. You can deploy the app immediately or schedule deployment for a future date and time.
      2. If a deployment schedule already exists, click Proceed to overwrite it.
      3. Click Next.
    3. Review
      1. Review the selected apps, deployment schedule, and target devices.
      2. To schedule deployments of the selected apps to additional devices, use Schedule deployments of selected apps to other devices.
      3. Click Submit.
  4. After you click Submit:
    1. If Deploy Now is selected, deployment starts immediately.
    2. If Schedule Deployment is selected, the deployment is queued and runs on the scheduled date and time.

Generating a Full Deployment History Report 

You can generate a complete report with detailed information related to all deployed applications added to LDO. 
To generate the report:
  1. Navigate to Application Management > Apps.
  2. Click Deployment History.
  3. A .CSV file is downloaded to your computer, displaying this information: App name., App extension, Version, App type, Platform, Device name, Serial number, Product family, Deployment Status and Deployment Date.

Generating Deployment History Report for a Specific Application

You can generate a report with detailed information related to the deployment history of a specific application. 
To generate the report:
  1. Navigate to Application Management > Apps.
  2. Click on the Application from the table to open the App Tray.
  3. Select the “Deployment Schedules” tab.
  4. Click on the “Export” button.
A .CSV file is downloaded to your computer, displaying this information: Device name, Serial number, Product family, Deployment Status and Deployment Date.
